Project Runway: Week 2

July 23rd, 2008 11:44 pm | 2 Comments

It’s all about being GREEN this week. In a Runway first, the models are the clients AND they did the shopping at Moods! I thought that was really kewl. So what’s the GREEN about? All the fabrics in tonight’s episode are “green” prodcuts, fabrics that are environmentally friendly.

So I never wrote about opening week last week. Of course there are some cuties in this season’s cast. So let’s talk about Suede. He’s kinda cute actually. That blue streak in his blond hair is kinda hot. Odd thing is, is tat he talks about himself in the third person. The next cutie who didn’t really get much camera time last week is Wesley Nault. From Massachutsetts, he looks like he’s a preppy guy, but then there is that edge that you don’t see. Next, let’s talk talk about Keith. Wow. Yummy. In the beginning of the episode he had on these really cute glasses. He’s muscled out and has a real tight haircut. However later in the episode he comes out with these 70′s style glasses. Not sunglasses, glasses. It totally changed his look, but still hot all the same!

So back to tonite’s episode. The designers have to create a cocktail dress for their model. Many of the models bought the same fabric, so it will be interesting. Ok, I’m over this guy Blane. Everything is “licious” this and “licious” that. Ugh.

So these dresses tonight, some of them were scary. Unfortunately, Wesley’s was the scariest and he was voted off the island! Bye Wesley…so rumor has it you’re dating Daniel who is also on the show… hmmmm.

Last Day of a Colleague at Work

November 15th, 2007 10:28 pm | No Comments

Gala’s last day was today. We all went to the Yardhouse at the Irvine Spectrum to say goodbye to Gala. She recently moved to San Francisco when the company decided to expand and has some kind of presence near some of the larger bio-tech firms. After being with the agency for years she decided it was time to move on. Gala said she would be staying up in SF and had no immediate plans to come back to SoCal. A good group of people showed up. I had my usual Grey Goose with Tonic and a twist of lime followed by a single shot of Patron.

I got home after running some errands and grabbed a quick bit to eat. I missed the season premiere of Project Runway 4 last nite, so I watched a TiVo’d episode. What a group of designers eh??? So far, my initial impressions are the Christian is a scary little bitch and people better watch out. Not because he has put anytnig together that looked fashionable, but because he has the attitude of bitchiness! Rami was the winner of the night.

Time for bed… bye Gala, you will be missed.

Jeffrey wins Project Runway 3

Yea…..

I’m sorry, I really wanted Uli or Laura to win.

Michael, I was disappointed in your Safari collection. At least you won the $10,000 favorite designer contest.

Runway Update: Au Revoir Angela!

August 30th, 2006 11:21 pm | No Comments

Project Runway 083006What an exciting show tonite on Project Runway! In another bizarre twist…they started off the show with the picking of the models. We’re down to 7 designers. Today’s challenge, to design clothing for an International Jetsetter. They all arrived back at the Parsons workroom and Tim comes in. He announces that the International Jetsetters are in fact, themselves.

Yep, they have to design clothing for themselves in the attitude of an International Jetsetter. They will design and model their creation. They have 1 day to complete their designs.

It was crazy! Watching the deisgners make their clothes was kinda of funny. I remember seeing Uli and her myriad of colors and patterns. Then there was Kayne and something that looked like Elvis 2006. Laura had a wonderful dress that drapped well. The two that caught my eye were Jeffrey and Michael. Oh..let’s not forget Vincent and Angela. Vincent went ultra conservative on style and came up with a very plain design. Angela, of course had to work in those damn rosettes into her design. She kept saying she didn’t know what or who was an International Jetsetter so she had to point of reference.

The models came out and did their runway walk and it was fun seeing everyone. The judges made their scores then in another twist, they announce that one will be in and one will be out – but not just today. They were told that they had 1 hour to pack and prepare and then fly off somewhere in the clothes they are wearing. It turns out they are flying to Paris and I guess the goal was to see how their outfits survived the trip. There was alot of running around packing and heading to the airport.

They all arrived in Paris and what do you know – there is a Parsons in Paris. They get to the workroom and they are all happy and ecstatic. Then someone notices that there are only 6 worktables.

Tim walks in and with him is world-reknowned designer Catherine Malandrino. Her scoring was based on how the clothes fared the trip. The numbers were in and it was down to Jeffrey and Michael for the winner. I have to admit that I really liked Jeffrey’s outfit. For $75 dollars, this looked great. It spoke to his personality.

Then it was down to Kayne and Angela. Catherine said that Kayne looked like a wanna-be rock star. She said that Angela was just from another world. In the end, it was Angela. I applauded and cheered as the announcement was made. She just landed in Paris and she had to get back on a plane and fly back to the States.

He’s Out – Runway Update

August 26th, 2006 2:38 pm | No Comments

Robert Best is out. This week we were greeted with yet another Project Runway surprise. The models took the week off and the mothers and sisters of the cast are here to model in their place. The catch? They can’t model for their own son or brother. Each of the contestants had to choose a model and build an outfit for them.

So who do you think Jeffrey got? Jeffrey got the last pick and it was Angela’s mom. You KNOW how that was going to turn out right? Jeffrey was such as ass to her. It was kinda mean. Robert got Vincent’s sister. Now these mom’s and sisters were kinda plus-size women. This was a challenge for the designers. Jeffrey mad this AWFUL single piece dress for Angela’s Mom. It was like he almost sobotaged the dress to make her angry on purpose.

In the end, Robert’s lack of originality did him in. He made something that was almost like a poncho and a wrap. Nothing detailed, nothing striking, nothing to make his model stand out. I remember her walking out on the runway and she had the look of death on her face. She didn’t smile, she was PISSED! Also almost being chopped off the runway was Jeffrey with that horrible dress. Angela’s mom was kinda a “tomboy” – meaning she didn’t like dresses and she was a pant kinda girl. The dress Jeffrey made was so ugly.

So with Robert off the runway, I guess it is back to Mattel for him and the world of Barbie. It was nice to see Robert on the show and wish him continued success in the future!

OH, so who won??? Sadly… VIncent won. His model was Uli’s mom.
