Battlestar Galactica Last Night

June 7th, 2008 12:47 pm | No Comments

So my favorite line from last night’s episode was when President Roslin  was speaking to Hilo.

“You can’t be in love with the entire production line” referring to the line of “Sharons”.

Earlier, one of the other Sharon told Hilo that she had downloaded “Athena’s” memories and all that she was is now in her. The new Sharon had tried to show affection to Hilo.

I’m also glad that “3″ or Deanna has been re-activated. I love Lucy Lawless! :)

It was also cute to see Roslin standing in the landing bay and the shuttle door opens and it’s Adama. She finally confesses to “Bill” that she loves him and Adama responds “…it’s about time”.

HOT HOT HOT

April 12th, 2008 11:07 pm | 1 Comment

weather on 4/11/08Well the Southland sure got a blast of heat this weekend.  A high pressure system has parked itself over the Southwest US and that produced an off-shore flow with temps in the mid 90s, some just barely to the century mark!

Many of us sought refuge in air conditioned places!! I had a haircut this morning at a new salon. I have decided to try a new stylist, one who was much closer than my old one. Don’t get me wrong, I have been going to Delila for almost 2 years now, but she moved to a Salon in Brea and that makes for a long commute.  I went to try a male stylist. His name is Angelo and I met him on a dating website. I saw that he was a barber/stylist and I told myself to check him out.  Well I set up an appointment last Saturday but had to cancel, so I re-scheduled for today at 10am.

Crew SalonThe Crew Salon is in The Lab in Costa Mesa. The Lab is best described as the anti-mall.  When I got there, I announced myself and said I had a 10 o’clock with Angela. So the receptionist crossed something out with her pen and said it would be a few minutes.  Turns out, the receptionist who was to reschedule me, rescheduled me but for Saturday the 19th instead! I needed a haircut!  So they offered Lindsay who had a 10 o’clock cancellation. At ths point, I had still not met Angelo.  So I got my haircut and it was kinda awkward as it could be with a new stylist. You never know what questions to ask or what to talk about. Luckily she asked alot of questions and we talked about how I was supposed to have a cut with Angelo, but it got all messed up.  Little did I know that Angelo was the guy cutting hair in the station next to Lindsay.  The Crew Salon is a hip and younger kinda place so there were alot of hip guys in there. The guy getting his haircut next to me was kinda cute, so I got all conscious and didn’t look over very much.

After the cut, I went to see my dad and see how he was doing.  He was scheduled for a kidney transplant that had to be cancelled for various reasons.  Suffice it to say, Dad was being stubborn and tried to skip a few procedures.  I’ll leave it at that.

FedExAfter lunch, I went back to the office to work on a system for a new hire starting on Monday. When I walked in, I noticed that the shipment I got ready for FedEx was still sitting in the lobby! WHAT>!??!  That system had to get to our East Coast office on Monday. Did you know you can ship with FedEx on a Saturday and it will get there on Monday for no extra charge?? Who knew! Well I had to haul the boxes to the Irvine FedEx office. Completing that task, I went back to the office for about 30 minutes and got a short overview of World of Warcraft. I have never played, bit alot of people I know, play it.

At this point, the thermometer was registering 95 in Irvine.  It was a very long week and I was pretty much still tired after getting up this morning – so I headed home, turned on the AC and took a long nap!

Charm City CakesI got up a while ago and watching Chefography on the Food Network.  Showcased was Duff Goldman of Ace of Cakes and his journey to how he became a cake decorator and star of his show Ace of Cakes. There is alot about Duff that I didn’t know.He got his start in cake decorating in the most unusual way possible. He was a great set of friends that work for him in the bakery and I tune in every week to watch each episode.

Tomorrow I will go in the office for about an hour to finish up the system for the new desiner starting tomorrow. I’ll do it early before it gets hot again. Temps should be back to normal (70) on Monday.

P.S. I missed Battlestar Galactica last night. I thought I had my TiVi setup to record it on a Season Pass…but it didn’t. Now I missed it and since NBC Universal (owner of the SciFi Channel) severed its reationship ith iTunes, I couldn’t download it eaither.  I’m bummmed.

Battlestar Galactica: Razor

Well I have been glued to the set since 9:00.

What do we know so far? This movie event takes place just after Lee took command of the Pegasus. This is before the occupation of New Caprica.

Well it turns out the Admiral Helena Cain and “Gina” were lovers. This was before we find out that Gina, the network engineer, is “Six”

This now kinda explains why Admiral Cain was so hard on the cylon and treated her the way she did aboard Pegasus.

Sickly Fridays

ColdI got up this morning around 7 and there it was…a sore throat the size of a tennis ball.  So it starts.  Looks like Scotty’s cough at the office was potent enough to send a few of the bugs towards me.

Last night the sniffles started and the coughing.  I was up for parts of the night dealing with the cough. Since I’m prone to respitory issues, anything coughing or sniffling in nature attacks me harder. All I wanted to do was stay in bed with my Tylenol and bottle of water. I called in sick and sent my first ever “OOO” (out of office) to the All-inVentiv-IT list.Of course, my BlackBerry kept going off all day with emails pouring in. There was a small situation that required my assistance. Les needed access to the 24″ iMac on my desk because it has a touchscreen interface on it. He just needed a login. The rest of the day was drinking water and staying in bed. By this evening I was feeling a bit better, but decidedly drier. Seems my sinuses have dried up – but the cough remains.

Trader Joes Brown RiceI didn’t have anything to eat all day and that’s probably why I felt weak as well. I made a little somethin-somethin for dinner and was reminded of how good Trader Joe’s Brown Rice is. They have this frozen Brown Rice item in their freezer section. It comes with 3 packets. You put them in the microwave for 3 minutes and it comes out perfect! Thank you Trader Joes!

Tonight on TV we have the season finale of Doctor Who, a two minute Battlestar Galactica flashback to the first Cylon War and part II of Stargate Atlantis’ fourth season.

Battlestar Galactica 3.3

Galactica FTL into atmosphere
Ok…..third episode of the season and my favorite scenes were the rescue scenes. The Galactica FTLs into the atmosphere and falls to New Caprica.

Vipers launching
In doing so, the vipers launch so they can be close to the ground with the least resistance from the Cylons.

FTL just above ground
Then Adama does it again and the damn ship FTLs out hundreds of feet from the surface, creating an implosion boom where the ship once was. It was fuckin awesome!

It will be good to see Lee Adama (Apollo) lose the weight he gained while the Pegasus and Galactica were in hiding. For months, the two ships and a handful of ships were hiding from the Cylons, waiting for a signal from New Caprica.

The Pegasus is sacrificed in the battlescene. A battle that Admiral Adama ordered Commander Adama to stay out of. Lee’s orders were to protect the remaining colonists and find their way to Earth. Instead, Lee launches all of Pegasus’ vipers to protect the fleet, while he redirects Pegasus to New Caprica to help his father. Another awesome battle scene.

I love this show!
