A Vacation to DC

April 13th, 2008 3:33 pm | No Comments

Washington DCWell I’m finally getting some time off. I will be headed off to Washington DC for a week to relax and spend time with old friends. There will, however, be one day of work. I will be traveling up to Somerset, NJ to our office on the East Coast to meet te staff there and put a West Coast face on the place. I arrive in DC at 6am on Tuesday, April 22 – my birthday!  I have a red eye flight leaving LAX on Monday evening on the new Virgin America Airline.

Rockville Town SquareI will be in DC for a week and will be staying with my friend Ben who lives just outside of DC in Rockville, MD.  He lives right on the Red Line which is a straight shot into the city.  Ben lives in the newly developed Rockville Town Square and multi-use development with retail shops below, condos and apartments above and also home to the Rockville Main Public Library.  I’m excited to see Ben as it has been about 5 years since I saw him last.  I met him just before I had met Brian.  Ben is an artist and currently works in kitchen design.

The one thing I want to do before I leave DC is to visit the new Nationals ballpark.  This park was several years in the making and serves as the new home to the Nationals.

Precision Design LLCIn addition, I will also be spending some time with Scott Shumkaer and his partner Barry.  They have moved into a new condo in what was the old Charleston Chasleton on 16th and R.  A developer bought the building and converted them all to condos.  After a somewhat-bumpy ride, they FINALLY moved in. Scott has been working owner of a design/marketing firm called Precision Design.

So the main purpose of the trip is that I want to just do NOTHING but relax and not worry about the office. Will I be able to do it?? Anyone wanna take bets??

Opening Day 2008

March 31st, 2008 9:21 pm | 1 Comment

Three of my Baseball Teams celebrated their Opening Days today.

Nationals LogoI had planned to be in DC for the Opening of the new ballpark for the Nationals, but was unable to get out of town. There was alot of pomp and circumstance today in DC and President Bush made the opening pitch.  Let’s just say there were lots of jeers in the crowd and it wasn’t because of his pitch.

Today the Nationals opened the Season with a game with the Phillies. The Nationals won 5-4.

Dodger’s LogoAt lunch today, I watched a little bit of the LA Dodgers game against the Giants with a 5-0 win. Brad Penny pitched for about 6 innings and was replaced for the rest of the game. I had lunch at Casa Franco and the game was on the plasma! Yea!

AngelsThe Angels didn’t do as well against the Twins with the Twins coming out on top 3-2.

Let’s see how the season goes this year. Will the Angels do it two years in a row?

Baseball is back!!!

Chicago – My Town!!!

October 26th, 2005 9:41 pm | No Comments

The Chicago White Sox win the 2005 World Series in the 4th game!!! The game ended 1-0. Former President Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush attended tonite’s game, but it wasn’t enough for the Houston Astros to punch thru a solid performance by the Sox.

Congrats to the White Sox! I’m sure the Southside has exploded in joy!
