A Prick at the Tip of My Tongue…

October 28th, 2009 10:47 pm | 1 Comment

Allium bulgaricum flower headabout_padma_tomI think in all the years Top Chef has been on the air, Padma had the quote of the entire life of Top Chef on television! Tonight’s challenge was about cooking vegetarian in a Tom Collichio’s CraftSteak in Las Vegas.

Padma was commenting about her experience with a very spicy dish she just sampled and blurted out:

“…it was like a prick at the tip of my tongue”

Then guest judge Natalie Portman says “Oooh you should say that…” with a finger to her lips.

Padma then talks about the shallots and then the garlic blossoms…

“the garlic blossoms are some small but big in your mouth…”

Then Tom chimes in and says “we went from a little prick to big in your mouth…” and someone at the end of the table then adds, “…that’s how it usually goes…”

OMG, one of the funniest things I’ve heard!

President Barlet’s Daughter To Wed President Obama

October 27th, 2009 12:02 pm | No Comments

It’s official! Former President Bartlet and his wife Dr. Abigail Barlet will be attending a wedding at The White House. Their daughter, Zoey Barlet, is set to marry President Obama.

Hahaha… actress Elizabeth Moss who played the character of Zoey Barlet on The West Wing has married Fred Armisen of Saturday Night Live fame. Fred has been known for his impression of President Barack Obama on the weekly television show.

From People.com:

The two wed in front of friends and family at The Foundry in Long Island City, New York.

In August, the pair said they were aiming for a simple, “medium-sized” wedding, and that Moss, 27, would be wearing a Claire Pettibone dress. “It was actually the only and first designer I ever wanted,” said Moss. “I just thought [the dresses] were really beautiful.”

It’s the second marriage for Armisen, 42, perhaps best known for his impression of President Barack Obama, and the first for Moss. They’ve been engaged since January.

Those Awkward Moments at Checkout

guy shoppingSo it happened again today. You know how you walk into a grocery store and you see the cute guy doing his shopping? You keep running into him wherever you go in the store.

I was in line at my local grocery store and I usually go in the evenings. There is a cute cashier that always works the first cashier station and seems to always be there when I do my shopping. It wasn’t busy in the store and it was just the checker and me. Then the cute guy shows up behind me in line. The dude behind me is looking at the rags and then blurts out how Angelina Jolie is so hot and starts to show us pictures trying to get us to agree. I look at the cashier and he starts going on about how she has a great ass and all that, then he looks at me and says “…ya know?”

I froze..I didn’t know what to say, but he and the other dude were waiting and out of my mouth goes “…oh yeah… for sure”

OMG…did I just say that?!?!  I froze and when I should have said something to the effect of “oh…well you know…Brad’s more my style, than Angelina…”

UGH…

Boys and Girls

October 25th, 2009 2:36 am | No Comments

There are a few movies out there that when I see it on TV I say I’ll just watch a few minutes since I have seen it a gazillion times. Well when Boys and Girls comes on I find myself watching the entire movie. The movie stars Freddie Prinze Jr. and Claire Forlani. It takes place in San Francisco/East Bay and chronicles the relationship between Ryan Walker (Freddie Prinze Jr) and Jennifer Burrows (Claire Forlani).

If you have watched the movie, I’m mesmerized as to how much Claire is so much like Calista Flockhart. I mean REALLY! Anyway, was suffering some insomnia again and this was on at 3am on KTLA. This long snippet shows a sequence of a song from Apollo 440 called Stop The Rock at about 5:40 marker. Now this movie came out in 2000. Was the “dance” they did during the song something that was going on in dance clubs across America and I just didn’t know??? Can you Stop The Rock?

GLEE – I Could Have Danced All Night

October 22nd, 2009 2:01 pm | No Comments

So last night’s episode of GLEE felt like filler. Yes, we moved forward a bit on the Quinn/Finn pregnancy and the strange move of Puck and his revealing to Rachel about his feelings for Quinn. Although no one know that Puck is acutally the father of Quinn’s baby. I could have done without the little storyline about Sue and the anchorman. Oh..and Quinn is off the Cheerios, thanks Sue. We also see Quinn and Finn lowered on the popularity ladder and the subject of multiple Slushie attacks. We will now see scores of high schools across America re-enact this Slushie event on campuses everywhere.

We also got to see Emma in a horrible wedding dress, only to find out that she actually has a very contemporary gown that I really like. Will was helping her see if the new dress was danceable so they tested it out in the store with a rendition of “I Could Have Danced All Night” from My Fair Lady. Well…for me, the first time I heard that some was way back when in a little movie called “The Bird Cage” with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane. Here is a clip from GLEE and then a clip from The Bird Cage…
