Taking a Little Trip: DC and Vegas
Well Washington DC, you better watch out cuz Scott Mindeaux is coming to town!
I’m taking a few days off in October to attend the National Equality March and to have some Foodie fun in DC. I’m only in town for 4 days which will mean my schedule will be pretty packed. I fly in very, very late on Friday, October 9th and fly back home on October 14th. Saturday I hope to meet up with old friends, but want to start off with breakfast at Kramerbooks & Afterwards Café at Dupont Circle. I know there are a million places to eat in DC for breakfast, but Kramers has always had a lace in my heart for it.
I do need to spend some time with my friend Scott Shumaker. Scott has been my best friend, my Apple confidant and my ear-to-the-wall connection to Washington DC. I also need to see my ex Brian and see how he is doing. Donno and him are still living out in Fairfax. Sunday is the March and the gathering at The Mall. I’m sure the day wil be filled with many emotions. The last “March on Washington” I participated in was back in 1993. It was that pivotal year that I became an activist in the LGBT movement and joined the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. Although I was more behind-the-scenes guy as their IT Director and Operations Manager, it was 6 years of my life that I will never forget. I hope to se many familiar faces over the course of the weekend and it will be very emotional.
On the Foodie side of things, I hope to visit Sur La Table and visit with Karen and my old cooking school at Pentagon Row. I do want to see Susan Adler as well as Carla Hall. I’ve been trying to reach her these last few weeks, but I know she has been very busy. I do also want to meet Clay and Zach of The Bitten Word. I also hope I get the chance to meet Cory of Culinary Cory and hope to land an interview with Jacob at FoodNetworkAddict.com
I fly back to The OC on Wednesday the 14th and that will be a recuperation day. I’m back to work on Thursday and Friday. Then afterwork on the 16th, I’m off to Blogworld and New Media Expo in Las Vegas. It’s been awhile since I have been back to Vegas. The goal at this expo is to focus on all the aspectsof blogging as well as using additional media outlets to promote my food blog.
