Seattle Post-Intelligencer Closing?

January 10th, 2009 4:54 am | No Comments

seattle-post-intelligencer-webThe Hearst Company which owns the Seattle Post-Intelligencer  has put the paper up for sale on Friday (January 9, 2009).

The Hearst Company has owned the Seattle PI since 1921. A few years back, they bought the Seattle Times which handles all the non-news portions of the paper.

The company said if it doesn’t find a buyer, the paper will close or go Internet-Only. If it does go Internet, it will obviously have a very reduced staff.

I only lived in Seattle or  short time, but I liked the Seattle PI. It was a well organized, well-written paper with writers that cared about living in Seattle and reporting on it.

I hope the PI stays around.

picture-40Tonight was the Series Finale for Stargate Atlantis. The episode was only 1 hour long and it didn’t go out with much of a bang, despite the explosion of the nuclear device aboard a Hive ship orbiting Earth.

Yes, the overall episode could have been better if they did a two hour episode, but I don’t write for the show. It was kewl that Atlantis floating in the middle of San Francisco bay at the end, but really. Coudn’t we afford to pay for a special effect to see an outside shot of the city against the SF skyline? Wouldn’t that have been way more kewl!

So now we have a couple of movies to look forward to. These won’t be a direct-to-dvd like the SG1 movies, they will be shown on the Sci-Fi Channel.

We also have the third series, Stargate Universe, to look forward to. For some reason I’m not all excited about it, but as the release date gets closer this summer, maybe I’ll see what all the fuss is about.

Stargate Command out…
