microscopically oversized

The space shuttle Endeavor was scheduled to return to Florida today but was delayed until Monday when the bolts used to secure the aerodynamic shield cone were “microscopically oversized”.

They will shave the bolts to fit then conduct tests to make sure the bolts will withstand the stresses of the flight from California to Florida.

The shield fits over the tail section of the shuttle as it rides atop a Boeing 747.

“Microscopically oversized” is an oxymoron right?
