Always The Last To Know

October 30th, 2008 11:03 am

It seems that whenever there are things happening in the family, I’m the last to know. Now, granted, for the last 15 years or so I have been living on the East Coast for 12 of them. But I have been home now for 3 years and still nothing.

So apparently my dad had his kidney transplant on Tuesday evening, when last I was told it was going to be today or tomorrow. Now I’m told from my sister that the surgery is done and that my dad is conscious and “texting” from his bed. Obviously he’s texting with my sisters and not with me. I feel left out.

Next, I find out one of my sisters quit her job. I questioned whether this was a wise move considering the economy, but she said that she has some leads. Unemployment rates are at 6.1% and today new layoffs were announced in the financial sectors. I just hope she is able to find a job. Her job is technically in the housing industry and that is the hardest hit industry right now.

I’m a little upset about being the last to know about my dad’s kidney transplant. I texted him, but haven’t heard anything back.

families are strange. i think my own family wishes i would talk to THEM more. as for the texting thing — my dad does it and he’s 70. the thing with him tho is that he also immediately follows up his texts with a phone call asking if i got it. lol.

Maybe he thought he texted everyone or that at least people would communicate things to you. If I call home I sometimes assume my ma will tell my pa. He has surgery so he could be out of it. If your mad at anyone it should be your sister.

Sounds bad to be mad at your sister. I meant that no communication trickled to you. Maybe she was practicing the Obama trickle up line of thought and thought you would learn eventually vs. the McCain trickle down where you would know right away.

Walter (Tim), How did politics fall into my family communication problems?? When you talk about McCain trickle down, were you talking about his economic policies?

Sorry they seem to lackadazical in communicating with you. I would actually go to see them and talk face to face and ask why this is happening.
