Top Crap

September 14th, 2008 3:02 pm | No Comments

This season of Top Design is Top Crap. Todd Oldham has been demoted to the role of mentor and they have brought in the “daughter” of a famed interior designer. Yes, because being the lineage of a great designer TOTALLY qualifies you to be a host and judge.

India Hicks has no hosting skills whatsoever. She’s absolutely awful. Rejoining her from Season 1 are judges Jonathan Adler, Kelly Wearstler and Margaret Russell.

So I said earlier that Todd is now the mentor on the show, but he’s not on the show all that much. At least Tim Gunn gets alot of camera time and there is structure to his appearances. For Todd it’s very random.

They have also created the Pop Design, akin to the Quickfire Elimination on Top Chef.

The first episode had the teams breaking up into four teams and have to design an entire two-story loft with only $2000 and two days. Serge was sent home.

The second episode had them breaking up into teams of two and having to design the inside of a bomb shelter. Creating a unified space yet show the style aesthetics of each designer. Both Jennifer and Robert were sent home.

They finally got rid of Jonathan Adler’s “See You Later, Decorator…” and replaced it with a horrbly delivered “We can’t live with your design, you’re going home…”

So closing thoughts…I can’t handle Prestons v-neck shirts. I’m not sure if Wisit is a guy or a girl, I like Nathan. Natalie reminds me of Caroline Rhea.
