Returning the iPhone to Normal

Well, it was fun while it lasted. I jailbroke my phone on August 16th in hopes of having access to tons of software that I couldn’t get in the App Store. Turns out since the 16th I have only downloaded two pieces of software.

Qik was software that allowed me to stream live video to a website that could be viewed by anyone. The system would even archive any footage I took. There is also an option to “hide” any private videos I may have taken (Yeah..don’t I wish).

The second piece of software was just something to alter the appearance of the AT&T in the upper left-hand corner.

There wasn’t really enough out there to peak my interest. In fact, I ahve been hit with several little problems like App store apps no longer installing properly, weird delays in typing that I didn’t seem to have before. Strange reboots and that weird Pineapple logo that I thought was horrible looking.

So in the next few days I will be wiping my phone and starting from scratch and installing 2.0.2.

Stargate Atlantis: Rest in Peace?

Well the SciFi channel has issued a release today saying it will not be renewing Stargate Atlantis for a sixth season. Their current fifth season will end in January 2009. However, the producers of the Stargate franchise have said that Stargate is stronger than ever.

I wasn’t a fan of the Stargate SG-1 spinoff, but I was a faithful fan and watched every week as the Wraith and the Pegasus Replicators came after the crew of Atlantis every week. I have to say that it seemed that the episodes were getting more predictable each week. While I’m sad that Atlantis is leaving, I’m not surprised.

The producers have promised at 2-hour movie much akin to the SG-1 movies, Ark of Truth and Continuum. The 2 hour movie will air in the summer of 2009.

But is this really the end??? Oh no….standby for Stargate Universe. A 3rd franchise from the minds of Stargate SG-1. Yes..a third franchise. The goal is to attract a much younger and broader audience. They will focus on characters rather than the mythology of the Stargate universe. 

Perhaps they should take a cue from SG-1′s 200th episode and mix The OC with the SG:

So Much Blood!

Well I had labs today. My doc ordered labs for me and there were a few new tests added to my normal battery of a1c tests. When I got there, the technician pulled out some vials, I wasn’t looking so I thought it would be my normal 3 vials.

So he sat me down on the chair and I told him my right arm was the one with the good veins. He did his usual touching on the inside of my elbow and exclaimed that he found it and to be ready for a little prick.

Little did I know the little prick was going to be him! The tech kept missing the vein. “Ooops..he said. Hold on”. He tried FIVE times! Thank the gods he got it on the fifth try. I joked and told him I was tapped out and maybe he should try the other arm, maybe I still had some blood left on that side of my body.

So the blood was flowing and he did the first three vials. then he reached into his pocket and drew another vial. Then he placed that one down and stuck yet another vial in. He took at total of 5 vials. I felt cheated…they should pay me for those last two vials!

Hopefully my cholesterol and a1c numbers are good.
