Health Status Report

June 30th, 2008 10:42 pm | 1 Comment

Well it is Monday night and I have come to a decision. For the next 6 weeks I will see if I can improve my overall health. If at the end of the 6 weeks I have not had any successful gains in my health, I will enroll in a 12 week program prescribed by my doctor.

A couple of weeks ago I visited with my endocrinologist. He basically said that if I don’t take the steps to improve my health, I might as well stop all treatments and expect to have a much shortened life.

So the next 6 weeks will be telling. Wish me luck!

It’s Lonely at 3 am

June 29th, 2008 3:14 am | No Comments

I can’t sleep again. This no-sleeping thing is beginning to get really frustrating. I did absolutely nothing again today. For the last four weekends I have spent it inside. I left only once today and that was around 11pm to make a run to the market.

Another lonely weekend. I’m feeling kinda sad. A guy that I’ve been talking to on the net is on. I’ve been trying to meet him but never seem to get an invite to go out. I’ve asked him out, but never get a commitment. Well it turns out he is kinda seeing someone and now he’s asked for my advice. So like a nice guy, I gave him my opinion and advice. I then ended it by saying how funny it is for me to be giving advice from one of the loneliest people.

He said he didn’t want to get into a pity competition so he offered his latest 80′s mix (he’s a DJ). I’m brought back to the 80s with the likes of Information Society, Dead or Alive, Yaz and Depeche Mode – to name a few.

Wish I had someone to hold onto right now.

The Air is Kinda Thick

June 28th, 2008 10:33 pm | No Comments

There are alot of fires going on in Northern California. At one point there were over 1000 fires from just north of SF to the Oregon/California border.

There is so much smoke being generated from these fires, that you can actually see it from space. Cities across Northen California are shutting down outdoor activities due to the smoke.

At some point this week, some of the smoke was actually making it to Southern California.

Seeing the photo it reminds me of the fires from last year down here in the OC.

Not So Fun Friday

June 27th, 2008 11:13 pm | No Comments

What a crappy day. After an altercation before lunch I decided to work on a proposal and get that out the door.

Later when I got home, my sister called and her notebook computer died. It keeps looking during bootup. Dallas’ MacBook was also acting up. So…my sister asked to come over since I didn’t want to go over to my parent’s place.

Beth, Charles, Dallas and Jessica (Messy-ca) showed up with notebooks in hand. Tonilyn was spending the night at Nana’s house.  After looking at the Toshiba, looks like I need to reset the BIOS. That means having to take the battery out of the logic board. The MacBook’s hard drive has died. Looks like a new one will be about $50.00.

My mind keeps going back to the altercation today. Ugh.

Night.

I Heard the Chirp of a Car Alarm

June 26th, 2008 11:45 pm | No Comments

So I was just about to drift to sleep when I heard the chirp of someone turning on their car alarm. At first I wasn’t sure of what I heard, but after a second or two I realized that it was indeed at car alarm chirping on.

But how could I hear it from so far away since the parking lot is closed here at the Sycamore Lane Apartments?? Well I rush to the window and there are cars everywhere?!? When I got home at 5:45 this afternoon, the lot was still closed and there was a stripping crew still on the premises putting in new lines and painting the speed-bumps. I was lucky enough to find a spot on the street when I got home.

Surprised and now awake, I got dressed and moved my car into my spot. I wonder if it was supposed to be open. The paint needed time to set, the top layer of asphalt only got put down this morning. Is it ready to drive on? Will I get in trouble from all the flyers from the management about not walking on the asphalt and any residue on your carpet are on you to clean, not the managements??

If it’s not supposed to be open, Kay is gonna be one pissed person in the morning. Too bad I really don’t care, I’m just glad I don’t have to park at Target anymore.

So upon my inspection of the job done, they didn’t even repave all the areas. My car port area wasn’t even touched! However, other carports have been. We didn’t even get a re-striping in my area. I feel like I didn’t get all the services I was supposed to get as a resident of my apartment complex. You would think that with as much asphalt that they hauled in, you would have gotten all of it, not just parts here and there.

Probably by the weekend, no one will have remembered about the asphalt job of 2008 and will be racing up and down the main drag here, marking up the fresh coat of asphalt.

There’s Something in my Mayonnaise

June 26th, 2008 10:23 pm | No Comments

There is a commercial that has been running in the UK for a short time. The ad was pulled this week by its maker, Heinz.

Basically the ad is for Heinz Deli Mayonnaise. It shows a kitchen with kids getting ready to head off to school. We see a butcher/deli guy in an apron and hat behind the counter handing off sandwich bags to the kids and wishing them a good day at school. Then the dad comes in and ready to leave in a hurry. The guy behind the counter says “Forgettin somethin?”. The kitch of the ad is that the butcher dude is the mom and being portrayed by the deli guy for serving deli style sandwiches. At the end of the ad, the dad kisses the deli dude on the lips and he wishes him a good day at work.

Funny!!! My first reaction to the commercial – and second…and third.

Now many in the UK, a country I think of as being more liberal minded in advertising than the US, persuaded the execs at Heinz in pulling the ad off the air. That controversial kiss at the end is what has people up in arms (or up to their arms in mayonnaise).

View the ad yourself and you be the judge.
