The Next Food Network Star 3 – Finale

July 22nd, 2007 9:54 pm | No Comments

Tonite we find out if Rory or Amy becomes the Next Food Network Star. 11 contestants started and now we’re down to the final two. The final two, technically, was supposed to be Rory and Jag, however, something happened. Turns out Jag lied and said he served in Afghanistan and that he graduated culinary school. Turns out he was never deployed to Afghanistan and that he never finished culinary school. He dropped out of the competition and they brought Amy back to duke it out with Rory.

So who am I rooting for??? Honestly, I wish I didn’t have to choose. I can’t see Amy in her own show. Rory has the charm and looks but I don’t think I would be interested to watch what she has to say. I have a feeling that America will choose Rory.

Amy and Rory of The Next Food Network Star 3Now it is time to bring everyone back together. Marc Summers, tonite’s host, asks everyone to join them on stage. So everyone shows up and each of the contestants shows up there are TWO people who stand out. Jag shows up way casual while everyone else was dressed up, in jackets, but casual. Nicki shows up in those damn high boots and this “dress” that looks like a big chef’s jacket – it was UGLY!

Columbe is here, of course, and she STILL screams crunchy-granola to me. She reminds me of an actress, but I can’t put my finger on it.

Vivian was there in her very short red dress – REALLY short.

They did a little video montage called “Where are all the shirts”… oh my God…. Paul and Adrian were fuckin hot! :)

They did a tight show of Nicki and God..that dress is AWFUL!

Just a side note, Marc asked Bobby Flay how he would do if he was a contestant. I miss Bobby’s first show “Hot off the Grill” with sidekick Jacqui Malouf. That was the show that got me hooked onto the Food Network back in the late 90s.

Here it comes America….who will it be!?

Emeril Lagasse is on stage and will name the big prize. Food Network president Brook Johnson is here as well.

Congratulations to: Amy!!!

So I guess we’ll be seeing a show on the Gourmet Next Door… will I watch???

Stay tuned!

This was SO anti-climactic.

My Camera Is Old

July 21st, 2007 1:03 pm | 2 Comments

I got up early today and went to the Irvine Farmer’s Market and decided to take my camera with me. Seeing cameras at the Farmer’s Market is not a new thing – lots of folks were taking pictures of all the fresh produce.

However, one thing I noticed is that I have a really, really old camera. I have an Olympus D-510 camera, 2.1 megapixels. it’s about 50% bigger in size than all the cameras that are out today. Its not silver, its not sleek.

Needless to say, it was a bit embarrassing taking pics with it. This camera was released in late 2000.

Time for a new camera eh? :)

July 13th, 2007 1:30 am | 2 Comments

Its 1:26am and I’m still up. I just realized that it’s Friday the 13th today. I just finished cleaning up from making the filling for my eggrolls and prepping simple syrup for some Mojitos . Today is Battle of the Buildings at Ignite. We are in the Main Building and have something planned to show off to the other two buildings that we have spirit – Yes We Do!

Gotta get to bed, I have to roll the filling in the eggroll wrappers in the morning. I will also be making my newly famous Mojitos at the event. The events comprises of building spirit and a little putt-putt. A company here in Socal brings putt-putt to your company. It is 10 holes and we will be setting up the course throughout the three buildings.

Each of the occupants of each building will whittle down to one person to represent their building in a golf-off at the end of the day. Go Building 1 !!!

See y’all in the morning!

The New Boeing 787 Is Here!

July 8th, 2007 9:33 pm | 1 Comment

At 3:30pm PDT I sat down at my computer and watched the LIVE webcast of Boeings rollout of the 787. Thousands were in attendance and thousands more worldwide were there to bring in this new plane. 677 orders are already in for this new plane. Tom Brokaw was the MC tonite and they pulled off a very eloquent presentation. At the end of the 45 minute show, the hangar doors opened to the view of the new 787. It was a beautiful day in Seattle and the plane was up against a perfect blue sky.

I Touched One: iPhone

July 6th, 2007 7:34 pm | No Comments

So I was able to hold off a whole week before touching an actual iPhone. I came really close on the 29th to getting in a line to buy an iPhone. I knew that if I went to an Apple Store and touched one, I would want to own one of these beautifully crafted marvels of technology! :)

Well today I had to go to the Apple Store to pick up an iMac that was in for repair. While there I ran into Brian Parker who is the Business Sales guy for the Irvine Apple Store. He asked if I had one and I said not yet. I then looked over at the table where the iPhones where and said, “…yeah, that table has been swamped all day eh?”

Brian then reached into his back pocket and handed me his iPhone and said “Go at it…”.

I said “For real??”

From the first touch, it was like magic. I did everything on this iPhone. The one thing I didn’t get off the bat was the pinching action to zoom into a page or photo. After a few tries though, I got it. Typing was natural for me, more natural than I thought. I guess all that oogling online and on TV paid off, seeing it being used on TV paved the way for me to get it right! :)

This phone is magic I tell you.

I want one….

A Quiet 4th of July

July 4th, 2007 9:46 pm | No Comments

Hello fellow Americans. It was a quiet day in my household today. I wasn’t feeling too good today. I got out of the house once today to do some grocery shopping and that was it. It was pretty hot out today and there was a twinge of humidity in the air. However, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky and that was going to be good for fireworks.

Tim and Damian were driving back up to Costa Mesa and they text messaged me asking me to go out. I wasn’t expecting them to be home today. I still wasn’t feeling well and told them I was staying in.

I pretty much watched marathons of Project Runway, Flip That House and Mythbusters all day today.

My 4th of July foods of the day? Leftover ribs and corn. Yummm.

I think I will turn in for tonite. Happy Birthday America
