Health Check – 03/30/07

March 30th, 2007 9:55 pm | 1 Comment

Well I got good news from the doctor today. My cholesterol has dropped 66 points! In addition, my LDL (the bad cholesterol) dropped 57 points. In the bad news category, my HDL (the good cholesterol) didn’t change much. In fact, the number is too low. Low HDL makes it harder to combat LDL. Lastly, my Cholesterol to HDL ratio is down from 5.0 to 3.2.

Hooray for me! Since 2/8/07 I have virtually given up red meat, NO fast food whatsoever, avoid fried foods, NO soda and major increase in water consumption.

I’ve lost 10 lbs since 2/8/07 and shooting for the next 10 lbs.

American Idol 6: The Top 10

March 27th, 2007 8:12 pm | No Comments

It’s Gwen Stefani night tonite!

First up? LaKisha

LaKisha – Let’s Dance from Donna Summer
Great start to the night! Strong voice LaKisha. Luv the outfit, the boots look great! Your rendition is great and I luved it!
Score: 9

Chris Sligh – Every Little Thing She Does is Magic
Oh man….Chris you are soooo off beat. Gwen said you were having tempo problems and you really are! Watch it there, you’re having some pitch problems now. I don’t think that this is anywhere near your best. This was awful tonite bro.
Score: 5

Gina Glocksen
You looked so comfortable standing side by side with Gwen. Good performance tonite. It seemed you might have had some tempo issues, but I liked it. As always – great look!
Score: 8.5+

Sanjaya – Bathwater
Ok…..WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THE HAIR? You’re back to your “mellow”, “flat” performance. I swear, if you make it to the Top 9 I seriously have to question America. Dude…you are forgetting the words! Dude…seriously, why are you here?
Score: 6-

Haley Scarnato - True Colors
Gwen says she tried to go over the top. She suggested, keep it true. I actually liked the beginning of the song. But you’re trying to go all melodic for a song that was so simple to start. I’m on the edge on this one. It was ok.
Score: 7

Phil Stacey – Every Breath You Take
watch the tempo dude. You sound good, I’ll admit it. I think you need more stage presence. There were alot of instrumental sections to the song and you just standing there.
Score: 8

Melinda Doolittle – Heaven Knows
A guy I met in Las Vegas told me about a video of Melinda-isms. It shows her being all humble like she really is. I can’t find the video. Gwen luved your voice. I think the song might be a bit too “old” for the crowd. It sounds kinda adult contemporary. You, are strong, confident and the vocals are great. I just don’t know if America will take to it.
Score: 8

Blake Lewis
I think I like it. There seems to be some tempo issues in the beginning. It seems like you’re trying to stretch it out, but the tempo wants to do otherwise. I do like the look tonite bro! :)
Score: 8-

Jordin Sparks
Hmmm…you’re trying to sing No Doubt, but its not working for me. It’s alot of “Hey Baby, Hey” – not alot of vocal techniques in the song tonite.
Score: 7+

Chris Richardson - Don’t Speak
Close out the song in a big way tonite bro! I like this song. These last couple of weeks, I get the feeling that you’re purposely bumping up the pitch just a bit shy of your comfort range. Tonite it seemed you were reaching a bit. Will tonite’s performance be enough to keep you out of the bottom3? I hope so!
Score: 8-

My guess for this week??? Please let it be Sanjaya.

What Happens in Vegas…

March 26th, 2007 6:52 am | No Comments

Well I went to Vegas this weekend to drop my mom off at my sisters. She is returning to work on Monday and needs mom to help out with baby Jessica. My dad is still overseas.

So, I decided, I’m going to have some kind of fun this weekend despite the fact I’m still fighting this cold/bronchitis thing.

So…I met a nice guy. I’ll call him “B”. We met online at first and my first impression was that he was cute. We decided to meet up for dinner, some casino hopping, maybe a bar and then hangout more. B setup reservations for dinner at Emeril’s at the MGM Grand. I got to his hotel and he was waiting for me in the lobby. I found him and he was much more cuter in person that his pics. We went back up to his room cuz I wanted to see the rooms there (he was staying in one of those Hilton Timeshare properties). These mini-apartments are nice. It even had its own washer/dryer in the unit! We left for Emeril’s but got there a tad bit early. They were more than accommodating to seat us early. What a great menu. I so wanted to have the rib eye steak – but I was good and had the streamed grouper. It was steamed in its own juices with wine, tomoato, onion and carrots. The final result was a broth that was to die for. B decided to get the rib eye steak. I was eyeing it (and him) all night! :) I enjoyed two glasses of wine, while he enjoyed his gin & tonics. I was tempted to get a vodka tonic, but saved that for later.

Afterward, we headed out to a bar on the Southend of the strip and had a couple of drinks there. I did fufill my need for a vodka tonic or two. We went to a mixed crowd gay bar called Buffalo.

After a few drinks each and lots of people watching, we both decided to head out. In the cab ride back to the hotel (that’s where my car was) we held hands and did the leg touching thing.

The rest of the night was great. Let’s just say I left the next day….very late, in fact.

It was a pleasure meeting you, I hope to see you again soon in DC. (He lives near where I used to ive in Washington DC (Reston)). Have a safe trip home!

After a wonderful dinner, we both headed out to do some

Work Out 2 on Bravo

March 22nd, 2007 7:13 pm | No Comments

Jesse from Work Out on BravoFar from me to watch a show on physical fitness.

But it’s Bravo – what can you do. So I’m watching the beginning of Season 2 and you know who is a cutie on this show?? Jesse. He’s the least in shape of all the trainers on staff, but he is a damn cutie. Skybar is a new concept of a training facility that will be in a penthouse overlooking Los Angeles. The goal is to help those with weight problems, get back into shape.

Now..I wouldn’t mind having Jesse as my trainer, but I don’t think I could afford his $135 an hour price tag. :(

So Jesse, how bout you give me a couple of free lessons and then we can cook a few meals together! I’m a former foodie!

I’m having Stargate Withdrawl

March 22nd, 2007 7:07 pm | No Comments

Its been months since the mid-season break for Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. I’m tired of watching re-runs. Atlantis will be continuing into their 3rd Season, while SG-1 will be closing on their 10th season. I think.

All I know is that SG-1 will be coming to a close this summer and they will be releasing two DVDs later this year (Direct to DVD or TV). Rumor has it that Gen. Jack O’Neill will be coming back for the movies.

On more rumor note, Amanda Tapping (Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter) will be joining the crew of Stargate Atlantis. Be interesting to see if she takes over Shepards team or if she is there on a scientific purpose.

Well I Done Got Me Some Bronchitis

March 22nd, 2007 6:04 pm | No Comments

Yep….I’ve got bronchitis again. The doc gave me a mild antibiotic just in case and put me on prednisone (major steroid and mood adjuster) for my breathing problems. I’m on bed rest for 3 more days…ugh. I went into the office today to catch up on things and do work on some proofs that had to be completed by 2pm.

Jaimie had lunch with the gals and I was invited, but thought it best if I wasn’t all sick around the babies (Gloria’s Gavin was also there).

Came home and was in bed most of the afternoon.
