How was my Sunday?

January 21st, 2007 11:49 pm | No Comments

I went out to brunch with a new friend (we’ll call him A) of mine. A and I met online a little over a year ago. He approached me first online I think thru my then podcast. We corresponded online for sometime then lost touch with each other. We recently found each other again and found out he lives in Irvine now. We decided it was time to finally meet – and that was about 4 months ago. He and I have found each other on a few other webistes that we both frequent and he always calls me handsome and I do the same to him. He is quite attractive.

A few nites ago he helped me transport a bed that my co-worker Jaimie gave me. She just moved in with her boyfriend and they didn’t need two beds in the new place. She graciously gave me her bed – headboard, frame, box and mattress. A offered to help me and we picked up the bed. Its a queen size bed with a sizeable headboard. It is the Sumatra model from Pottery Barn. Jaimie, thanks for the bed – its the incentive I need to get myself moved into my own place.

A and I had brunch on Sunday and we went to Mimi’s cafe. I had the crabcakes benedict and he had the stuffed french toast. We had a good time and the food was actually good. I had to work the rest of the day, so A and I parted and I got my day going. I had to run and get some floormats for the two new workstations that we just built upstairs at the office. The mats are there to protect the floor from the wheels of the chair. The rest of the day was spent continuing a large file transfer betweens servers, setting up two new workstations and getting a new MacBook Pro for one of the founders of the agency.

I didn’t get home until abour 10 or so and missed a chunk of Brothers & Sisters. I have it on Tivo, so I’ll have to watch it tmorrow night after 24.

Have a good Monday everyone!

I Got Promoted Today

January 19th, 2007 10:51 pm | 2 Comments

I got a promotion today at the agency. As most of you know I work in the IT department of my ad agency as their Macintosh Specialist. Since I started at the agency, I have shown my other skills in operations, facilities, office managemet and more broader IT skills beyond just the Macintosh systems I manage for the studio. Since I started I have been working on more “space planning” and facilities things along with my daily Mac duties. I put a proposal into my boss a couple of months ago, proposing the creation of a new position for someone to handle these mixed IT and Admin roles.

Today that came true. Fabio called me into the conference room and I thought I was in trouble for something. We sat down and he apologized that he wanted Arshy to be there to do this, but since Arshy was out on a Comp day, he wanted to let me know that he and the partners have taken note of all the things I have been doing at the agency and that they wanted to accept our proposal for the new position. We’re not sure what we’re going to call the new position, but it took effect as of Friday. I was glad to know that my efforts didn’t go unnoticed and the partners appreciate my enthusiasm and look forward to our continued relationship.

Some of my officemates said my new title should be Feng Shui Master or the Director of Feng Shui. Hop said I should be Pricipal Designer. You see I have been responsible for redecorating a couple of offices and I’ve become the master of Feng Shui – even tho there is no Feng Shui about anything I do! [smile]

Here is my motto, you have to live a large portion of your life at work, why not make your work surroundings a bit more comfortable without compromising a professional environment.

So a pat on the back for me!!!

Jack Bauer to Dr. Bashir

January 14th, 2007 10:11 pm | No Comments

So, watching the season premiere of 24, it turns out that Asaad is being played by Alexander Siddig, better known as Dr. Julian Bashir, Chief Medical Officer of Deep Space Nine.

Ok, so the Star Trek reference aside, this 2 of 4 hour opener is jammed packed and full of action just like every season since the first.

More to come later!

Personal Note: I’m still having that low-grade headache that started yesterday. I took a vicodin and that helped for several hours, but now I feel it coming back. I had lunch with Larry from The Little Fatty Cast, then went to Walgreens to get some water then back to Moscone.

Oh my god…all the eye candy! It was overwhelming for me. It was crazy crowded on the show floor today. I’m back at the hotel and going to rest. The next three days are going to be intense and I need to know that I will have the energy to keep up!
