Roommate Hunting in LB

October 29th, 2006 2:23 pm | No Comments

So after I was at work this morning at 8am (PDT) I worked on Lisa’s G5 and then started on backing up another system. At 11, I headed out to Long Beach to look at a couple of places. I’m looking for a place in Long Beach, it’s halfway to LA. The first place I went to was pretty kewl. The owner, V, showed me some photos he took with his cell phone. I got there and there were two guys sitting on the porch. I walked up and said hello and ask for V. V came out and he was a hot bear-type guy. He wasn’t wearing a shirt and he had on trackpants. I didn’t see any tats, but he had two pierced nips. He was a nice guy. He does alot of travel for his job so he is gone most of the month. The two guys that were in the front was a friend of his that will be living in the house, I’ll call him K. The other was his nephew visiting from out of town, we’ll call him T. So his friend K is moving to SoCal and will be working for an aerospace company in Long Beach. He’s only been in LB for 3 days. He’s seems like a nice guy. Cute in his own way. T, the nephew was about 24 and cute too, but str8. The place is nice and well kept. There isn’t much of a backyard, but there is some room back there to sit. The porch seems to be the place to hang out. The kitchen is small. The house is almost identical to my friend Gala and Roger’s house, except where they have the kitchen, he has a small den. He could easily extend the kitchen to this space. The kitchen in its current setup is small. Not much room for cooking, but according to K, V doesn’t cook much.

The second place I was supposed to look at, wasn’t there and he wasn’t answering his phone. Annoying.

So back to the OC for the rest of the afternoon, then back to LA to possibly have dinner with Aaron.

Two Witches Made Me Shed a Tear

October 28th, 2006 3:27 pm | No Comments

I was surfing the web and came across a blog, Allanisms. There he had some photos from this years Folsom Fair in SF, but he also had a YouTube movie that was a secion of a documentary of the broadway show, Wicked.

I kinda knew about this show as far back as 2003, but never really paid any attention to it. My friend Daniel who worked with me at Sur La Table was the one who told me about it. He was reading a book called Wicked and I saw it and asked. He told me it was being turned into a broadway musical. After that, it only a reference here and there over the last 3 years brought it to light.

Reading Allan’s blog I watched the YouTube snippet. I was so drawn to it. I was trying to listen to the words. I went online and found a lyric page, then downloaded the song on iTunes.

I played the song and read along with the lyrics. I found tears falling down my face. I started to cry…

The song really touched me and surprised me. It reached deep inside of me and I was reminded of Brian. I remember a few a weeks ago when I visited him and he had to leave with his new boyfriend for his trip. I was visiting him in DC and only got about 4 hours to spend with Brian. Later than evening, I realized that I was OK with Brian having a boyfriend. I wasn’t jealous anymore, I wasn’t sad, I was happy for him. Listening to the song, it reminded me of that moment inside of me when I knew I was over Brian. Now I listen to the song over and over and see Brian and me saying the words to each other (we would never sing like that to each other, well, not in public anyway). [Yes..I know that sounded SOOOO gay...]

Ok..time to wipe the tears… Allan, thanks for reminding me I’m human after all.

Self-Confessed Target Whore

October 27th, 2006 12:59 pm | 1 Comment

TargetI admit it.

Without a doubt, I am a Target Whore.

Not only am I a Target whore, but I’m a Clearance Section Target Whore. I visit about 4 different Targets in my area on a regular basis, scanning those endcaps (the displays at the end of a row) for clearance items.

I recently renovated the IT office with finds from the clearance section. Who knew? So if you see me in one of my local Targets, look out, cuz if it has a red sticker on it, I might take it from your cart!

The Internets and The Google

October 27th, 2006 9:46 am | No Comments

Leave it to the leader of the free world to once again (yes it’s more than once) that he has referred to the “internet” as “the internets”. In a recent interview with the bodacious Maria Bartiromo, he was asked if he ever used Google. He responded by saying he had been on the “the Google”. Jeanne Moos of CNN did one of her wonder stories about The Internets and The Google.

I can’t find a copy of Jeanne Moos’ i nternview, it’s still live on CNN’s website, but I’m sure it will be on YouTube by the end of the day. Go over to The YouTube and look for it later!

If you are a frequent reader to my blog, you very well know that “the internets” has been around for a long time. Just ask my pals over at The Little Fatty Cast podcast. Larry H. Vader (that’s V-A-D-E-R) and Big Fatty have been on the internets for years!

Gwen Stefani Meets The Lonely Goatherd

October 26th, 2006 11:04 pm | No Comments

I was running thru the preset stations on my car radio when I heard a familiar tone. I actually went past it and had to go back. It was a very familiar tune to me – yet it was different at the same time. It was a sample from The Sound of Music’s The Lonely Goatherd mixed in with a beat. Gwen Stefani had taken a sample from that song and mixed it into her new single “Wind It Up” which will be included in her upcoming album to be release in December.

I went online to find a copy of it and found it. I’ve been listening to it since then, that was after my date with the cute guy! :) More on that later.

In the meantime, here is a snippet: Wind It Up

Top Chef 2.2

October 25th, 2006 11:57 pm | No Comments

Ok. What’s up with the chef’s jackets? Is it my TV or are the Top Chef jackets an “off-white” as opposed to white? What’s up with that?

So Suyjai is gone from last week’s snail and frog leg challenge.

Today’s quickfire challenge was started at 4:0am. Off to the fish market they go. They cooked for guest judge Hiroshi Shima, executive chef of Kitano and Sushi Roku. Cutie Sam didn’t have his hat on today and he was still hot looking. Last week’s winner, Ilan, did his little faux hawk hair today. Yummmy! Mia wasn’t doing too well today. They did some drinking last nite. Michael is, I don’t know…Michael sucks. Poor Mia made her interpretation of a hand roll, but they were the size of eggrolls. The judge didn’t like it. Elia swayed me with her kewl accent. Cliff makes the grade.

The elimination round has the teams broken into two teams, one Korean and one Vietnamese.

I won’t get into the gritty details, but as for teamwork, it goes to Team Vietnam. For food, it was half and half. There was a scandal with Team Korea.

Yea! Otto is gone. He was embroiled in a controversay where he knew that a case of lychee wasn’t paid for and gotten for free. Team Korea was not cohesive and there was no team leader. The redeeming part of the team was the braised pork. The rice under the pork was mushy. Unacceptable. They also made something that was supposed to be Korean flavored panna cotta (oh yes…Italian/Korean fusion is always on my list). They used too much gelatin, it was like a hockey puck.

Bye Otto.
