Runway Update: Au Revoir Angela!
What an exciting show tonite on Project Runway! In another bizarre twist…they started off the show with the picking of the models. We’re down to 7 designers. Today’s challenge, to design clothing for an International Jetsetter. They all arrived back at the Parsons workroom and Tim comes in. He announces that the International Jetsetters are in fact, themselves.
Yep, they have to design clothing for themselves in the attitude of an International Jetsetter. They will design and model their creation. They have 1 day to complete their designs.
It was crazy! Watching the deisgners make their clothes was kinda of funny. I remember seeing Uli and her myriad of colors and patterns. Then there was Kayne and something that looked like Elvis 2006. Laura had a wonderful dress that drapped well. The two that caught my eye were Jeffrey and Michael. Oh..let’s not forget Vincent and Angela. Vincent went ultra conservative on style and came up with a very plain design. Angela, of course had to work in those damn rosettes into her design. She kept saying she didn’t know what or who was an International Jetsetter so she had to point of reference.
The models came out and did their runway walk and it was fun seeing everyone. The judges made their scores then in another twist, they announce that one will be in and one will be out – but not just today. They were told that they had 1 hour to pack and prepare and then fly off somewhere in the clothes they are wearing. It turns out they are flying to Paris and I guess the goal was to see how their outfits survived the trip. There was alot of running around packing and heading to the airport.
They all arrived in Paris and what do you know – there is a Parsons in Paris. They get to the workroom and they are all happy and ecstatic. Then someone notices that there are only 6 worktables.
Tim walks in and with him is world-reknowned designer Catherine Malandrino. Her scoring was based on how the clothes fared the trip. The numbers were in and it was down to Jeffrey and Michael for the winner. I have to admit that I really liked Jeffrey’s outfit. For $75 dollars, this looked great. It spoke to his personality.
Then it was down to Kayne and Angela. Catherine said that Kayne looked like a wanna-be rock star. She said that Angela was just from another world. In the end, it was Angela. I applauded and cheered as the announcement was made. She just landed in Paris and she had to get back on a plane and fly back to the States.
