Record Highs in Southern California

July 22nd, 2006 11:41 pm | No Comments

Well Southern California Edison and Pacific Gas and Electric declared a Level 1 Power Emergency. This means conservation protocols are in place until midnight. This also means rolling blackouts. We had a couple of outages last weekend, and again today. We are to expect some again tomorrow.

Temperatures was in the 100s today over most of the Southland. Beach temps were in the high 80s with inland temps in the 100s. This is the hottest its gotten all year and we even broke some records. In the valley we got up to 116 degrees.

Some of this heat is tropical, which means humidity and threat of thunderstorms. There were spectacular lightnight storms around 8:30 tonite. These spurred lightning fires on Catalina Island.

Its almost midnight and the outside temp is still inthe 80s. Tomorrow will bring a few degrees cooler, but not much. The heat continues tomorrow…ugh.
