Mourning the Loss of Coretta Scott King

January 31st, 2006 12:08 pm | No Comments

Coretta Scott King, wife/widow of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. passed away from complications from her heart attack and stroke last year. Her on going work in civil rights is unprecedented and she will be missed.

Flags are hanging at half-staff today.

I had the honor of meeting Coretta Scott King several years ago when I was working in the GLBT movement with the Task Force.

The executive producers of the Emmy Award winning The West Wing, announced today that the long running series will be coming to an end on May 14th.

The West Wing is one of my most favorite shows on TV today. I’m glad that it will be in syndication for years to come!

Such a Ham!

Geroge DuranGeorge Duran… new host of a show on the Food Network called Ham on the Street. George picks a topic and conducts interviews and hosts weird facts about it on his show. He is a CUTIE!! Although George doesn’t cook a whole lot on his new show, he does have a culinary background having attended culinary school in France.

I have watched three of his shows so far. Topics include: Breakfast, Hot Dogs and Insomniac Cuisine! I look forward to more.

He’s a keeper and makes it to the CUTE LIST!

Hot Wheels and Barbies

For those of you who don’t know, I used to work for Mattel for around 2.5 years. There I did Macintosh Support and Project Management. Well today, my current employer, has been contracted to do some work for Mattel. I arrived at the Design Center with Thomas and Terry to meet with Robert Peck and T.D. It was so kewl being on campus again. I saw ALOT of familiar faces and alot of new ones. Within the first minute, I was recognized and then one after one I was running into old acquaintences. John Green came out and was headed out to the Tower. He was a little bit shocked. Then Dave Harper and Joe Reyes caught me as well as another analyst that I knew in the Tower when I worked there. Sherry who has been the first face you see at mattel was still staffing the front desk. We talked about my cooking adventure and Washington DC.

Robert finally came out and we shook hands. It was good to see Robert. Robert is running the game in the Design Center. Kevin who used to ride in our vanpool saw me and tipped off Tammy Abang that I was in the building and she came over from the Design Center to say hello. It was so good to see her. It will be interesting next week seeing all the familiar souls that I have worked side by side with for years.

Things seem a bit more organized there at Mattel and that is a welcoming thing. Robert seems on top of things. I will be the main contact for the Macintosh deployment. We will be doing a rollout of about 85 Macs. I will be on property for about 2-3 weeks.

Oh shit….I don’t have my powercord and I’m sitting here at the airport waiting for my flight to depart. Damn…what am I going to do?!?! Maybe they have one of those sotres where they sell universal adapters and one I can use on the plane!

Anyways….off to the last day of MacWorld for me. Talk to you tonite.

Hey all! Well, I’m hours away from getting on a plane to head to San Francisco to attend the last day of MacWorld on Friday. I’m staying in a small boutique-ish hotel near Union Square near the famous SF Cable Car.

If you want to meet and let me treat you to a drink or coffee, let me know! You can email me at scott@scottmindeaux.com. My Treo get’s my email, so I’ll get it right away.

I may meet up with Larry and Big Fatty tonite but we have plans to paint the town with fat tomorrow nite.
