I totally forgot about Apple today!
I got so wrapped up on stuff about work the last couple of days that I COMPLETELY forgot that the HUGE Apple announcement was today. I was at work until 10:30 tonite and didn’t really go on the net today so missed out. I was watching Invasion on ABC and they had a teaser for the upcoming 11 o’clock news and they said “Apple will change the way you watch TV…” I said “Oh shit, I totally forgot it was the big Apple day!”
So I rushed to my computer and pulled up the news. A new, thinner, 30G and 60G iPod. I guess now dubbed fifth generation? This new iPod has the same sleek lines of its little buddy, the nano, but still disk based. In addition, the also released iTunes 6.0. This is just 5 weeks after they released iTunes 5.0. I haven’t had a chance to download the newest version to see if it makes finding podcasts difficult again. There were some hiccups when iTunes 5 was released. The new iTunes has the video features. Disney and Apple have agreed to make episodes of Lost, Desperate Housewives, Nightstalker in addition to That’s So Raven and The Suite Life, both from the Disney Channel. You will be able to download the new episodes the day after it airs and costs a mere $1.99 per episode. I’m hoping this means I can take all my Divx mpeg movies and somehow convert them to play in iTunes. Imagine, being able to watch Stargate SG1 or porn (just kidding) anywhere!
Next we have the slimmer, more packed with features iMac G5s. Once again, making the lines of the iMac more sleek, we have a slightly thinner machine. With this new iMac comes a built-in iSight! Now you have a built in camera. Have you ever used the iChat features in conference mode? You have to check it out! The new iMacs come in 17″ and 20″ models. But wait, there’s more. Apple introduces Front Row, an incredible way to experience music, photos, and video in a sleek easy to manage interface. The iMac comes with a remote control that looks like an iPod shuffle. THis remote commands the Front Row interface so you can watch videos, listen to music or podcasts or looks at photos. If you have a DVD in the iMac, Front Row controls that too.
I have to get myself to an Apple store this weekend! This is what Apple does. They pull stuff out of their collective minds and blow people away! I’m SOOO ready to buy an iPod.
Of course you HAVE to visit www.apple.com
