The Kids…

July 31st, 2005 8:01 pm | 1 Comment

Well my sister brought me a surprise. She brought my other sister’s kids with her. So Damien, Jason, Sade, Dallas and ToniLyn were all here today. My sis showed up around 10:30 this morning. Mom had been up since 7am cleaning and packing. When I answered the door, they were all there. I was so happy to see them all. My sister came in, we hugged, and I knew that our fight was now over (we hadn’t talked to each other in like 3 months).

The kids all settled in and they all headed out for the park. My sister and I went to Ikea real quick so I could get a table and get the computer off the floor. Finally! The Ikea off of the 405 in Costa Mesa was remarkedly very UNGAY. I’m used to Sunday afternoons at Ikea and seeing tons of gay guys there. I don’t htink I saw one gay guy there. It was also unusually staffed. There were NO lines. I mean..there were..just not all the way back to self-serve that it is at other Ikeas. At mopst at 2-3 minute wait. After picking up the table and legs from self-serve, we checked out and got some cinnamon buns to take home. My sister listened to my podcast for the first time and she said she liked it because it wasn’t DJ-ey. I’m glad she liked it.

The kids, my sister, brother in law Charles and my mom all piled into the Suburban and headed for Vegas. Remember, my mom is going to be there the entire month of August. After saying my good-byes, I headed in to the kitchen and the first thing I did was start to clean. Stage one…get rid of all the plastic containers!

I’m sorry that I haven’t had a podcast out in a few days. I am having technical difficulties with my machine and hosting company. In just the event that something like this happened, I recorded the following podcast announcement. I hope to have a new show up in the next day or so.

Magic not so magical

July 30th, 2005 10:19 pm | No Comments

This entry is to make up for the one I didn’t do last nite. I got a few emails from new readers that they didn’t have anything to read with their morning coffee. We had our Mac meeting this morning. MAGIC was down (again) so we couldn’t review tickets at the beginning of the meeting. We then moved to me. I started an institutional dump of information to the rest of the team. Projects I was working on, tickets in flux and any other information that needed to be transferred. We talked about the Zeus infrastructure project, status on Digital Photo, asset management, Adobe and “the project”. Remember “the project” from a few months ago. Well, its kinda back. After about an hour, the gang finally understood what it was I have been working on for the last few months. The Zeus infrastructure project alone will require a full time person for a couple of months. We then got access to MAGIC again. We reviewed tickets and then we called it quits. My cell phone was ringing off the hook this morning. I’ve got like 2 dozen moving companies vying for my business

John, Joe and I went to Hanu Haru for lunch today. John hadn’t been out for sushi in a long time and he tagged along with Joe and me. I had my regular serving of salmon sushi and Unagi. John went for Unagi, California rolls and a spider roll. Joe had his usual as well. Can I tell you how much I will miss having lunch with Joe? I liked our bi-weekly sushi lunches.

After lunch I got to tickets and tired working on a few Final Cut Pro problems we are still having with Ian Richter’s system. No luck again from tech support. I’m still waiting to hear back from our legal guys about how to wrap up “the project”.

After work I went home and ran a few errands. I was really tired. I took a short nap and watched Buffy on UPN. This was the episode where Buffy gets a haircut, discovers the geek-trio and ends up boinking Spike. I went online to do some roommate/apt hunting and came up empty.

Time for bed….nite!

My sister is coming to town

July 30th, 2005 5:14 pm | No Comments

Well…it seems my sister Beth is coming to town tomorrow and she’s bringing the kids, Dallas and ToniLyn. She’s coming here to pick up my mom who will be staying with her for the next month as Charles starts a new job and my sister, Beth, starts Realtor school. My mom will be staying at the new house. ToniLyn is actually already here. She is at her “Nana’s” house (my sisters mother-in-law) in Garden Grove. I think she will be dropped off here in the morning. My mom being gone for 30 odd days will give me the time to concentrate on my job hunt. I’ll have my mom’s beat up 97 Taurus..but a car is a car.

Karaoke at Sam’s Club

July 30th, 2005 2:38 pm | 1 Comment

Oh my god. I just got back from driving my mom to Sam’s Club. While there, I noticed someone just singing awful on a karaoke machine that Sam’s Club sells. Well it turns out that she is an employee of the Karaoke machine manufacturer and she is the in-store demonstrator! Oh shit! She sounded so bad and she was trying to get other people to try the machine out. Funniest thing I ever saw. She was next to a guy trying to sell Sprint Cell phones.

Now where are those food samples….
